I forgot to post anything about Ella turning the big number 1. Well, she is now a year old and the time just flew by. I'm sure it will slow down some time, right? Not a chance. Remember when an hour felt like an eternity? Perception of time changes so much as we age and that perception changes so much more when you have a little one growing up before your eyes.
On the kidney stone front, I'm back to normal. The surgery went well and the stone was crushed into pieces. The recovery time wasn't bad, although the stent they left in me for a week was rather uncomfortable. I'm already looking forward to the next one!
The wife had to go run some errands without the baby in tow, so I had to keep my eye on the little sleeping beauty. My solution? I employed my iSight camera so I could keep my eye on my computer screen and baby Ella. Pretty sweet, huh? I will be accepting my "Father of the Year" trophy at year's end.
Ok, friends and family have been bothering me for more pics of Ella. Here is her photostream. I'll post more pics soon.
She is here and she is perfect. Check out the photographic evidence.
The due date (4/24) came and went and we still have no baby. This is getting old. The wife and I are going crazy and the baby just keeps kicking my wife's abdomen. Oh well, the first kid usually comes late any how.
My wife got back from her weekly appointment and the Doctor says that she can go at any time now. She is due on April 24th, but it doesn't look that she'll last that long. So let the predictions begin: boy/girl, weight, length, time, date, ethnicity, whatever...
And no, I won't be eating the placenta.
We attended a Lamaze class over the past weekend. The wife and I opted for the Lamaze in a weekend class instead of spreading it out over a few weeks. The class wasn't bad. I was expecting to do a bunch of breathing exercises, but that wasn't the focus of the class. The class basically let us know what to expect during the labor. There wasn't any mention of where I get my valium during the delivery, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure that out when the time comes.
Little Baby Niemster is kicking the hell out of my wife and I can't do anything about it. I'll have to wait until April to punish the kid for treating my wife like a punching bag. It is so odd to see the movement inside my wife's belly. It is kind of like Alien.
Anyway, I had these files for over a month now and I kind of forgot to post them here. Enjoy. The video is about 6 minutes long and has quite a few pauses in it. Be patient.
Sonogram video: Quicktime | Real Player | Windows (lower quality)
We had the sonogram this morning and everything looks normal. The picture above is from the 3D imaging sonogram. It was very cool, to say the least.
I don't feel like a father yet, but in six months that will surely change. Yikes! The babies these days are self-raising aren't they? It is 2005 for cryin' out loud. I'm going to hide under a pile of coats for the next 18 years and hopefully everything will work itself out.
Oh, the due date is April 24, 2006.
