Built to Spill @ Mr. Small's

Doug Martsch of Built to Spill

Shows in Pittsburgh that I'm actually interested in are few and far between, but when Built to Spill scheduled a date at Mr. Small's passing on this show was not an option. Mr. Small's has become the lone venue in the Pittsburgh area that is somewhat repudiable. (One complaint: The restroom situation needs an overhaul.)

Built to Spill certainly did not disappoint. Not even warm pounders of PBR could dampen their set for me. I'm looking forward to their new release. Now scheduled for April of '06.

All hail Kevin Sousa for getting kicked out not once, but twice from the Built to Spill show and charming his way back in both times. In the words of Doug M. "Security, ah, security... is there any security in the building?" In a show full of indie rock cognescenti all tapping their feet and nodding politely it's refreshing to have a complete maniac run amok. Cheers.

I was at that show, and it was a lot of fun. Was this Kevin Sousa fellow the one who was "moshing" when he shouldn't have been and being an all around asshole? I punched him in the face. It was a pretty shitty punch, but whatever. It was after that that somebody got kicked out and Doug did that, so I thought I'd ask. Anyway, if it's not him then oh well, neglet this, if it is, sorry.
But it really was a good concert, though I wasn't a fan of the middle band.
